Kim Hoffman is a partner who focuses her practice on commercial real estate and land use matters. She represents a diverse group of local and national developers, property owners, and institutions. Ms. Hoffman's representative client list includes publicly traded companies, builders, casinos, schools, telecommunications carriers, healthcare providers, churches, investors and individuals with complex real estate issues.
As a land use practitioner, Ms. Hoffman has assisted clients with formal proceedings before federal, state and local agencies, including Congress, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Army Corps of Engineers, as well as Delaware local governments' Departments of Law, Planning Boards and Boards of Adjustment, including the City of Wilmington and New Castle County. Chambers USA 2011 reports that she "is commended by clients for her ability in complex zoning law issues. Clients applaud her for understanding not only the law itself, but also how individual federal, state and local agencies apply it in practice."
Land use and real estate litigation matters Ms. Hoffman has handled include foreclosures on commercial properties, real estate tax appeals, certiorari appeals of Board of Adjustment decisions, defense of zoning violations, boundary line disputes, challenges to deed restrictions, and defense of malpractice actions against surveyors/engineers. Ms. Hoffman's transactional work includes the creation, acquisition, build-out and leasing of commercial office condominiums, telecommunications towers, rehabilitation facilities, apartments, residential subdivisions and hotels. In the workout context, Ms. Hoffman advises lenders and investors on the status of zoning permits and the presentation of approvals during property disposition as well as pursuing foreclosure and similar remedies.
