Rob Fischer is a Principal and the Office Litigation Manager in the Austin, Texas, office of Jackson Lewis P.C. He served for more than a decade as the national co-chair of the firm's Non-Competes and Protection Against Unfair Competition Practice Group.

A significant part of Mr. Fischer's practice focuses on drafting, and litigating claims regarding, contracts. That practice includes litigating claims on behalf of employers against former employees (and often their new employers) for breach of non-competition agreements, and also for related claims such as theft of trade secrets, breach of the duty of loyalty, and unfair competition. Mr. Fischer also advises departing employees (and their new employers) regarding contractual and other legal rights and obligations, and defends challenges to their new employment. He has litigated non-compete and trade secrets claims in Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas and Washington, D.C.

In employment matters, Rob has defended employers against a wide-variety of discrimination, retaliation, wage and hour, and other workplace law claims, having litigated such matters in state and federal courts, and before administrative agencies and arbitration tribunals, around the country.

Mr. Fischer has written on a variety of employment law topics, has taught labor and employment law to graduate business students, and is a United States District Court Special Master for labor and employment law cases.

Mr. Fischer has practiced with Jackson Lewis since 1993. In 2011, he returned to Texas with the opening of the firm's Austin office. He served with the U.S. Army Security Agency from 1975-1978. Mr. Fischer is active in the Austin community, including serving as General Counsel, Board Executive Committee member and Trustee of the Zach Theatre.

Texas has joined 47 other states and the District of Columbia in adopting the Uniform Trade Secrets Act. The new law, Texas Senate Bill 953, which will go into effect on September 1, 2013, provides a number of protections for trade secrets in Texas.
