About this office:

The firm is a cross-border legal practice between the United Kingdom and Nigeria which draws from the experience of its principals who are qualified to practice in Nigeria and the United Kingdom. The Principal Consultant supervising the Nigerian office is Chief Mrs. Abimbola Williams who is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and a member of the Advisory Judicial Council. One of the Principal's based in the U.K. is a Privy Council Agent and an International Bar Association Fellow in Legal Practice. He is also a senior member of the International Bar Association on the WTO and Credentials Committees.

In Nigeria, the practice has had the care and conduct of several litigious matters including but not limited to the case of Chukwuani v. S.E.C., where the practice acted on behalf of a minority shareholder in the Federal High Court, Lagos and challenged the privatization of a major Nigerian cement company by the Nigerian Government. Other cases include contentious probate litigation in Nigeria, in the celebrated case of Majomi v. Majomi, at the Lagos High Court and the Court of Appeal; Successfully defending family property from receivership in Majomi v. N.D.I.C. at the Federal High Court, Lagos; Contentious company litigation over the ownership of a quarry and construction equipment worth over US$30 million at the Federal High Court, Lagos; Litigating trademark application over the right to bottled mineral water in Voltic v Volvic at the Court of Appeal; Successfully challenging the misjoinder of a client in contentious probate litigation. Most of these cases involved an international element.

In the UK, A. Williams & Co. Solicitors has undertaken substantial cross-border litigation matters involving Shipping, Tort, Personal Injury, Property, Divorce. The practice has also provided advice on Corporate Finance matters. Nigerian clients include the Daily Times of Nigeria, Nigerian Ports Authority, Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), UK based clients include Savills Commercial Limited.
