A. Zen Umar Purba

Mr. A. Zen Umar Purba joined ABNR in 1986. He had previously been a law editor for Tempo, the leading Indonesian news magazine, as well as a member of the legal drafting teams of some government departments/ agencies, including the State Ministry for Population and Environment, Department of Mines, Capital Market Supervisory Board, Department of Justice, and the National Planning Board. The holder of an LL.M degree from Harvard Law School, he is a law graduate of the University of Indonesia and a professor at its Faculty of Law. He held the position of Director General of Intellectual Property Rights, Department of Justice and Human Rights, Republic of Indonesia from 1999-2002, and was the Chairman of the Indonesian Capital Market Arbitration Board in the years 2002-2005. He is also a member of Experts Team of the Attorney’s General Office. Within ABNR, he handles matters involving investment, capital market, corporate law, environmental law, and intellectual property rights.

He received a certificate of appreciation from the President of the Republic of Indonesia in his role as “IP Development Figure” on the world IP Day 2007.
