A.J. is a member of the Insurance and Reinsurance Department in the Hartford office of Edwards Wildman Palmer LLP. He focuses his practice on insurance and reinsurance law, advising insurance companies, banking and financial institutions on regulatory, compliance and transactional issues. Notable Experience · Assist clients with the formation and acquisition of insurance companies, insurance producers, managing general agents, surplus lines brokers and other business entities. · Represent the buyers and sellers of insurance companies, insurance producers and managing general agencies in purchase price negotiations and/or arbitration disputes involving complex accounting and actuarial issues; perform direct examination of witnesses and cross-examination of opposition witness; draft briefs and written testimony; and organize and present evidence. · Compile multi-state compliance manuals and surveys for property & casualty rate & form filing, claims handling procedures, producer compensation, surplus lines eligibility, producer licensing, adjuster licensing and third-party administrator licensing. · Counsel property & casualty insurance and reinsurance companies and insurance producers in connection with regulatory investigations and market conduct examinations. · Draft general agency agreements, marketing service agreements, third-party administrator agreements, vendor agreements, limited liability corporation operating agreements, articles of incorporation, bylaws, conflicts of interest policies, board of director minutes and employee agreements. · Monitor state and federal legislation and regulatory pronouncements impacting the insurance industry; draft client advisories and publish articles regarding the same. · Served two six-month secondments with the Office of the General Counsel of Chartis Claims, Inc., a subsidiary of American International Group, Inc., New York, NY. · Pro bono: Formed an I.R.S. Section 501(c)(3) non-profit college scholarship and outreach program for the benefit of the children of fallen soldiers from the Iraq and Afghan wars called Grateful Nation Montana: www.gratefulnationmontana.com. A.J. also worked at a "Big Four" public accounting firm as a Senior Auditor where he became a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Connecticut. Besides Edwards Wildman A.J. currently resides in West Hartford, CT where he enjoys spending time with family and friends. Along with his wife Debbi and daughters Sally, Sophie, and Sadie, A.J. actively fundraises on behalf of Connecticut Children's Medical Center and the March of Dimes.
