Aaron M. Staser is an associate in the Intellectual Property Department of Barnes & Thornburg LLP's Indianapolis, Indiana office. He concentrates his practice on intellectual property litigation and other complex litigation, including antitrust litigation and other disputes over technology.
Mr. Staser has represented and advised corporate plaintiffs and defendants in complex patent litigation matters related to a broad variety of technologies, including blood glucose monitors, hospital beds and related information systems, telecommunications, automotive, and fiberglass insulation. He has also represented clients in complex antitrust litigation involving exclusive dealing claims and retail price maintenance agreements, and he has defended and pursued claims on behalf of corporate and individual clients arising from alleged breaches of covenants not to compete and misuse of trade secrets across a variety of industries, including orthopedic medical devices, silicone release liners, and networking solutions. Mr. Staser has also litigated, negotiated, and counseled clients on complex technology licenses and competitive intellectual property portfolios, including advising clients on their freedom to operate.
Mr. Staser earned his B.S. with distinction from Indiana University - Bloomington in 2000, where he was a member of the Kelley School of Business Honors Program. He received his J.D. magna cum laude from Indiana University School of Law - Bloomington in 2003. During law school, Mr. Staser was a quarterfinalist and best oralist in the Sherman Minton Moot Court Competition, and was selected for membership in the Order of the Coif. Mr. Staser received the Certificate of Excellence for Outstanding Academic Performance as a Law Student upon graduation.
Mr. Staser is admitted to practice in Indiana and before the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana, as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal, Third and Sixth Circuits. He is a member of the Indiana State Bar Association.
