Biography

Adam Mizera specializes in the drafting and prosecution of patent applications and providing patentability, validity, infringement and freedom to operate opinions in the fields of mechanical engineering, aerospace and robotics.

He also provides advices and opinions on the patentability of inventions, as well as prior art searches to attack the validity of a patent or to help assess possible infringement of a patent. He also provides technical expertise to ROBIC's team of litigators.

He is a registered patent agent in Canada and the United States. Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec, he was also called to the Québec Bar in 2003.

Adam Mizera's clients are important businesses of all sizes, both Canadian and foreign, in various fields, including:

As part of an exchange program between ROBIC and the Canadian Space Agency, Adam Mizera worked as a manager in technology transfer. During his experience, he was a strategic counsel on the protection of intellectual property portfolios of the Agency and provided training for employees on various topics, including the patent searches and intellectual property in government contracts. He also worked on various licensing and collaboration agreements between the federal government, the private sector and universities. He is one of the rare intellectual property practitioners who can say that he spent about two hours working in weightlessness.

Always on the lookout for new developments in the areas of intellectual property and technology transfer, Adam Mizera is author of a blog on patents, C'est é-patent.

At ROBIC, he is the coordinator of the patent section of the Intranet and is the assistant editor of the quarterly newsletter.
