In April of 1997, the firm received the then largest punitive damage award in the history of the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD) in a customer case. In February 2005, the firm received the first multi-million dollar award from an arbitration panel in connection with the sale of a hedge fund to retail customers. In 2011, the firm received the largest award to retail customers ($54.1 million).
