Aldo Argento is a partner in the Calgary office of Norton Rose Canada. He practises primarily in the areas of insurance litigation, aboriginal law and the defence of professional liability claims.
Mr. Argento has acted as counsel in the litigation and arbitration of a number of complex insurance and construction claims. These have included construction cost overrun and delay claims, disputes over policy interpretation and coverage as well as product liability and negligence claims arising from losses at large industrial facilities.
Mr. Argento has also acted in a wide range of matters in the aboriginal law field and advised government and industry in this area. The cases he has worked on have dealt with the interpretation of First Nation treaty rights throughout Alberta, including claims involving natural resources, aboriginal title, water rights and taxation. He regularly advises clients on various issues involving the duty to consult First Nations in the context of natural resources and project development.

ˇ Reviewing and negotiating agreements with First Nations, including impact benefits, participation and traditional land use agreements
ˇ Defending water rights, tax exemption and treaty land entitlement claims under Treaties 7 and 8
ˇ Product liability and fire loss claims at a nitrogen fertilizer plant, gas processing facilities and sawmills
ˇ Defence of professional liability claims
ˇ Advising insureds on policy coverage and interpretation issues
