Alec is an Associate in the Litigation Section in the firm's Boston office, where he practices in all areas of complex litigation, including insurance and reinsurance.
At Mintz Levin, Alec has experience working on a variety of complex coverage issues involving directors and officers as well as disputes between directors and officers of closely held corporations. He also has experience advising clients regarding compliance with state and federal regulations.
Alec has co-authored several articles and client advisories regarding developments in the law pertaining to insurance and reinsurance, and he is currently pursuing a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation.
Alec has experience litigating disputes at trial and on appeal. In 2009 and 2010, he participated in Mintz Levin's fellowship program, which allowed him to practice as an assistant district attorney for Suffolk County. During the course of the year, Alec took almost a dozen cases to trial for offenses ranging from indecent assault and battery to operating under the influence of alcohol.
In addition, Alec developed proficiency prosecuting sex offenders who failed to comply with Massachusetts's sex offender registration laws. As a result of this proficiency, he authored three appeals vital to the prosecution and sentencing of sex offenders. He successfully argued one of these appeals, Commonwealth v. Maker, SJC-10761, 2011 WL 711566 (Mar. 3, 2011), before the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court.
Alec is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts. He received his B.A., magna cum laude, from Brandeis University (2005). He was awarded his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law (2008), where he was the news editor of the Virginia Law Weekly, and participated in the National Moot Court and Lile Moot Court competitions.
