Alex Cosculluela joined Adams and Reese in 1987 as a first-year law clerk and became an Associate in 1989. By 1995, he had become Partner and had transferred from New Orleans to the Houston office. As a Litigation Partner in Houston, he focuses his practice on the defense of commercial, environmental and toxic tort litigation, as well as property damage, serious injury and death matters resulting from construction, industrial and product/construction product failures.
Alex has been instrumental in growing the Houston office, particularly in the areas of environmental/toxic tort litigation. He has also led charitable efforts for the firm, including the firm's HUGS program and a directorship of the American Diabetes Association.
His significant contributions include:
· Defense and prosecution of commercial matters ranging from contractual disputes to business torts, including unfair competition, misappropriation of trade secrets and violations of non-competition agreements in energy, industrial and construction contexts.
· Defense of environmental contamination, including occupational exposures, from initial investigation, administrative hearings and representation before OSHA through civil trial and appeal.
· Defense of a variety of construction management, construction QA/QC and indemnity and insuring obligations in construction and industrial contexts.
A frequent lecturer within the areas of his practice, Alex is a member of the Defense Research Institute and serves on the Construction and the Environmental and Toxic Tort Committees. He is a member of various state and federal bar associations, including the American Hispanic Bar Association. He also speaks Spanish.
Alex has been invited to join the Litigation Counsel of America™, an invitation only honorary society of trial lawyers selected based on effectiveness and accomplishment in litigation, both at the trial and appellate levels, and superior ethical reputation.
Alex admires Abraham Lincoln for overcoming adversity in his personal life through intellectual growth, as well as the challenges of the most divisive moral and legal issue in our nation's history.
