Practice Alfred handles litigation primarily in the areas of labor and employment, governmental torts, products liability, and consumer finance. He has represented manufacturers, major financial institutions, municipalities, universities, and employers in federal and state courts. His clients range from Fortune 500 companies to sole proprietorships. He has represented clients in class actions, administrative proceedings and arbitrations. Alfred also mediates civil disputes. He is registered on the Alabama State Court Mediator Roster, and he has been added to the ADR Panel of Neutrals for the Northern District of Alabama. Highlights * Obtained full summary judgment on behalf of university in a discrimination case where former employee alleged he was denied promotions, denied tenure, assigned a heavier class load, paid less, and ultimately terminated due to his race and national origin. Summary judgment subsequently affirmed by 11th Circuit Court of Appeals. * Obtained a defense verdict for manufacturer in warranty litigation involving an all-terrain vehicle. * Obtained summary judgment on behalf of a university, its president and board of trustees in litigation instituted by a former professor alleging process violations, wrongful termination, etc., related to the professor's termination from employment with the university. * Obtained the complete dismissal of a municipality, its Mayor and Chief of Police from litigation stemming from alleged wrongful arrest, excessive force, and negligent confinement. * Obtained arbitration ruling in favor of national bank on multiple claims asserted by customer related to credit card accounts. * Obtained summary judgment in favor of manufacturer in product liability litigation where plaintiff alleged he sustained injuries to his feet while riding an all-terrain vehicle. Honors And Awards While in law school, Alfred and his moot court teammate won the National and Regional Best Brief awards in the 1998 Frederick Douglas Moot Court Competition. Alfred also served on the Law School Honor Court as an Associate Justice. Community Involvement Alfred is a member of The Worship Center Christian Church, where he serves in the Praise and Worship Ministry.
