Alicia Garcia’s practice focuses her litigation practice on professional liability, including representing lawyers, directors and officers, and insurance coverage and bad faith matters. She has assisted in handling claims related to shareholder class actions seeking multimillion-dollar damages against public companies and their directors and officers, as well as other high-profile cases involving a wide variety of issues. In addition, Alicia is experienced in handling general litigation, commercial litigation, employment discrimination and federal civil rights matters.

Alicia has drafted appellate briefs in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth and Seventh Circuits and Illinois Appellate Courts involving matters such as municipal defense, first property casualty, criminal defense and family law. She also sat as an arbitrator in the First Judicial District of Pennsylvania and served as second chair in federal civil rights jury trials, where she obtained favorable results for her clients.

On May 13, 2014, the Court of Justice of the European Union found that an individual has the right to demand that Google remove links about him that he claimed were old and irrelevant. But which approach is best - the right to be forgotten or the right to know? The “ right to be forgotten” as currently described by the Court of Justice could create a clash between freedom of speech, which is supported in the United States, and the EU’s broader concept of privacy.
