A member of Husch Blackwell's Food & Agribusiness industry group, Allan defends companies and executives in federal and state courts in a variety of complex cases. Clients count numerous defense verdicts, summary judgments and dismissals among his victories. He evaluates options and helps resolve disputes to further client objectives, often without the cost and delay of protracted litigation.
Allan's experience comprises more than 30 years of representing public and private educational institutions. He has handled a wide array of litigation, including employees' discrimination lawsuits, constitutional claims, breach of contract cases, physical and sexual assault cases and Sunshine Law litigation. Allan counsels governing boards, conducts investigations and administrative hearings, negotiates and drafts contracts and develops board policies.
Allan's noteworthy accomplishments include:
•Defending franchising company in four lawsuits by franchisees seeking to escape franchise agreements. Two franchisees paid company to settle. The other cases went to trial and received favorable verdicts for the company.
•Representing client against its franchisee in Omaha relating to allegations that the franchisee owed royalties to client. Secured jury verdict in client's favor.
•Advising minority shareholders of a bank and obtaining verdict and a judgment holding Iowa's fair value statute unconstitutional.
