Allen Bachman is a Member in both the Antitrust and Trade Regulation and Litigation Practice Groups in Washington DC. He regularly advises clients on a wide range of antitrust, competition, and consumer protection issues, and he has extensive experience representing clients in complex commercial litigation and arbitration proceedings. Allen has spent his career advising clients on all aspects of antitrust, competition and consumer protection law. He regularly represents clients in Hart-Scott-Rodino merger clearance matters before the Department of Justice Antitrust Division and the Federal Trade commission. He provides antitrust and consumer protection counseling on a wide range of issues, including internal audits and price fixing inquiries, marketing and sales practices, licensing and settlement agreements. Allen also represents clients in complex commercial litigation and arbitration proceedings including antitrust, securities class actions, breach of contract and other general commercial litigation matters. Prior to practicing law, Allen served as an economic analyst for the US Department of Justice Antitrust Division. Over the course of his career he has developed extensive expertise working with economic and accounting experts employed to represent his clients' interests in merger representations and in complex commercial litigation and arbitration proceedings. Representative Matters · Served as lead antitrust counsel to the second largest medical waste collection and treatment company in the US obtaining HSR clearance for a merger with its largest competitor; · Represented most of the major oilfield service companies in the United States in antitrust merger proceedings before the US Department of Justice Antitrust Division; · Successfully defended one of the largest coal mining companies in the US in a lawsuit brought by the FTC challenging a merger with one of its rivals; · Represented numerous clients in DOJ, FTC and state attorney general antitrust investigations of various business practices; · Represented a major petroleum production and refining company in a multi-million dollar contract arbitration; · Represented a major pharmaceutical company in a securities class action; · Defended a major pharmaceutical company's patent settlement against antitrust challenge by the FTC and private plaintiffs; · Represented one of Canada's largest gold mining companies in breach of contract and securities ligations; · Regularly advises trade associations on antitrust compliance; · Conducts internal antitrust audits to assure clients' compliance with federal and state antitrust laws; · Provides ongoing antitrust compliance advice and counseling to firm clients.
