About this office:
We have been providing legal services to the Royal Government of Cambodia, international investors, financiers and multilateral organizations in Cambodia since 1994, and we have had an office in Phnom Penh since 1999.
We are rated as a first tier law firm in Cambodia by the independent survey Asia Pacific Legal 500 2004-05. Our experience and understanding of the legal and commercial environment, combined with our international expertise and regional resources, makes us an unmatched provider of legal services in Cambodia.
The focus of our practice in Cambodia is energy and resources (particularly oil and gas), major projects, banking and finance, inbound investment, corporate and commercial advice. We have an impressive track record in these areas and have been closely involved with some of the largest international investments in Cambodia, including:
- acting for ANZ bank on the establishment of a joint venture with the Royal Group to provide full commercial and retail banking services in Cambodia;
- assisting the Government of Cambodia with its endeavours to resolve overlapping maritime claims with Thailand (including negotiation of a joint development regime for petroleum resources in the disputed area), the award and administration of petroleum concessions and ongoing development of the regulatory regime for the oil and gas industries;
- advising Shell on all Cambodian aspects of its takeover of Enterprise Oil and its proposed takeover of Woodside Energy;
- reviewing for the Asian Development Bank the BOT concession agreements entered into by the Government with respect to construction and operation of the Phnom Penh and Siem Reap international airports;
- advising Korean and Japanese lenders in connection with a variety of financing transactions secured by Cambodian assets, including various matters connected with Cambodian registered shipping vessels;
- assisting the World Bank to assess the regulatory framework for e-commerce, telecommunications, internet services and electronic banking in Cambodia;
- advising a major US corporation on the establishment of an IT outsourcing operation in Cambodia; and
- acting for Intercontinental Hotels in relation to the construction, fit out and management of a five-star hotel in Cambodia.
