Practice Amber is an associate at Starnes Davis Florie. Her practice is primarily devoted to environmental litigation and includes defense of Clean Water Act and Clean Air Act claims; litigation of Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) contribution and cost recovery claims; defense of common law property damage claims; and defense of personal injury claims based on exposure to chemicals and other pollutants. Highlights * Defending a municipality against Clean Water Act and state common law claims involving allegations of stormwater damage by an adjacent property owner * Representing a coal mining operator in administrative and state court actions involving appeals of permits issued by the state environmental and surface mining agencies * Represented a client in a CERCLA contribution and cost recovery action pertaining to the Alabama Wood Treating Corporation site in Mobile, Alabama * Represented clients in litigation of a CERCLA cost recovery claim pertaining to the Alabama Plating site in Vincent, Alabama * Represented chemical waste generator in litigation involving personal injury claims arising from explosion of chemical waste Honors And Awards While attending Cumberland School of Law, Amber was the Executive Editor of the Cumberland Law Review, a Thomley Scholarship Recipient, a George M. Stewart Banking Award Recipient and the recipient of numerous Scholar of Merit Awards. Amber was also active in the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity and served as a Judge Abraham Caruthers Legal Research and Writing Teaching Assistant. Community Involvement Amber is a member of the Birmingham Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and an associate member of the Environmental Law Institute. She is also involved in the Environmental Law Section of the Alabama State Bar and the Toxic Torts and Environmental Law Committee of the Defense Research Institute. Amber is a member of the National Association of Women Lawyers and served on the Annual Awards Luncheon Planning Committee and the Night of Giving Committee for the NAWL Annual Night of Giving in Birmingham, Alabama. She is also involved in the firm's pro bono initiative and provides advisory counsel to unrepresented defendants appearing before Judge Katrina Ross in district court in Jefferson County.
