Biography

Amy Allen Hinson practices primarily in the area of intellectual property law and commercial litigation. She assists clients through complex intellectual property disputes and litigations involving patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets. She also assits clients in a wide range of general litigation matters.

Ms. Allen Hinson is a registered patent attorney before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. She prepares and prosecutes patent, trademark, and copyright applications and advises clients concerning defensive patent reexamination strategies. Ms. Allen Hinson also counsels clients concerning patent, trademark, and copyright business development and licensing.

Since she began practicing law, Ms. Allen Hinson has obtained extensive experience counseling clients in federal intellectual property litigations throughout the United States including California, Delaware, Illinois, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Texas. Ms. Allen Hinson also frequently works closely with Nexsen Pruet's corporate attorneys in analyzing asset purchase agreements, general contracts, and performing due diligence analysis concerning all forms of intellectual property.

Ms. Allen Hinson is originally from Spartanburg, SC. She received a B.S., cum laude, in Ceramic Engineering from Clemson University and she received her J.D. from the University of Tennessee College of Law. Ms. Allen Hinson is currently a member of the Board of Zoning Appeals for the City of Greenville, vice-president of the Gridley Club, on the Greenville Advisory Board for the Urban League of the Upstate, and a member of the Greenville Women's Club, the South Carolina Women Lawyers Association, both the Spartanburg and Greenville County Bar Associations, and the South Carolina Bar. She also actively participates in InnoVenture and related conferences and is an active member of her neighborhood association, the Colonel Elias Earle Historic District Association. Ms. Allen Hinson loves being a downtown resident of Greenville where she lives on Earle Street with her husband and son.

Before joining Nexsen Pruet, Ms. Allen Hinson worked in various engineering-related positions with CeramTec North America in Laurens, S.C.
