Professional Experience
Amy K. Wilfert is a partner in the Individual Clients department, and is a member of the firm's Tax-Exempt Organizations and Charitable Giving Practice Group (an interdisciplinary team serving the needs of all types of tax-exempt and charitable organizations and their donors). She has practiced for over 20 years in the areas of wealth transfer planning, estate and trust administration, and the creation and administration of charitable entities. Amy's clients include entrepreneurs, executives, and those with inherited wealth as well as many private foundations. She works with these clients, along with their other advisors (such as investment advisors and accountants), to achieve their objectives in the most tax-efficient manner possible. Admitted to practice in both Connecticut and New York, she maintains an active practice in both states.
In addition to providing sophisticated legal advice, Amy frequently acts as an executor or trustee for her clients and their families. She is also active with public charities, having served on the boards of local charitable organizations.
Amy is a member of the Estate Planning Council for Lower Fairfield County, Inc. (former member of the board), the New York State and American Bar Associations (former vice chairman, Marital Deduction Committee of the Section of Real Property, Probate, and Trust Law), the Association of the Bar of the City of New York (former member, Committee on Trusts, Estates, and Surrogates Courts and Subcommittee on the Principal and Income Act), the Regional Bar Association, Inc. (Stamford, Norwalk, Darien and Wilton), and the Greenwich Bar Association.
Amy lives in Old Greenwich with her husband David and their three daughters: Kate, who is a recent graduate of Amherst College, Julia, who is a sophomore at Washington and Lee University, and Emma, who is a 6th grader at Eastern Middle School.
