Working closely with large manufacturers, small businesses and municipalities, Amy ensures that environmental regulatory compliance is integrated into everyday operations in a manner that facilitates operations. She helps these entities plan and implement proactive and practical measures to ensure continued regulatory compliance, and she provides defense to regulatory enforcement actions. Amy works with owners, lenders and developers to facilitate redevelopment of contaminated properties and advises on environmental cleanup of sites across the nation under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (Superfund), various state authorities and Brownfield acts. She interacts with regulatory agencies to effectively present and resolve cleanup issues for clients. Amy draws on this experience to effectively evaluate environmental due diligence information in property and business transactions.
Amy is often called upon when environmental issues arise in commercial transactions, such as real estate and bankruptcy. She works with commercial lenders and property buyers and sellers to evaluate the impact of environmental issues so that transactions can be effectively structured to account for and resolve the issues.
Amy also has extensive knowledge of the health and safety requirements of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the firearms and explosive regulations of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.
Prior to joining the firm, Amy was vice president of a hazardous materials regulatory consulting firm. She was also in charge of a federally financed hazardous waste educational program with University of Wisconsin Extension and served as a county supervisor in Dane County, Wis.
Amy has been a frequent speaker on environmental law at seminars and conferences.
