Amy S. Cahill's practice focuses on trademark and copyright litigation, advertising review, trademark prosecution, trade secret counseling and litigation, licensing and transactional matters including in the area of clinical research trials. She has represented major companies in the beverage, automotive, household goods and fashion industries in U.S. District Courts and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB). Ms. Cahill is versed in registration and enforcement of intellectual property rights through the Department of U.S. Customs and Border Patrol and the PRO-IP Act including preventing the importation of overseas counterfeit products. Her healthcare work focuses on new drug and device commercialization, including protection of resulting intellectual property and healthcare related software licensing.
Recent Assignments
· Ms. Cahill authored United States Supreme Court briefs on behalf of the American Intellectual Property Law Association in the copyright infringement class action Reed Elsevier, Inc., et al. v. Muchnick, et al., Civ. No. 08-103 and in the landmark trademark dilution case Moseley v. V Secret Catalog, Inc., 537 U.S. 418 (2003).

Before Stites & Harbison
Ms. Cahill joined the firm after practicing as a Senior Associate for five years at Oblon, Spivak, McClelland, Maier & Neustadt, an intellectual property firm located in Alexandria, Virginia, where she also earned an LL.M in Intellectual Property from George Washington University Law School. Prior to entering private practice, Ms. Cahill served as a Law Clerk to United States Distinct Court Judge Henry R. Wilhoit, Jr. in the Eastern District of Kentucky.
More Than Stites & Harbison
Ms. Cahill developed the first Intellectual Property Drafting seminar course offered at the University of Kentucky College of Law, which she taught as an Adjunct Professor. She previously served as an Adjunct Professor of Advanced Trademark Law at George Mason University Law Center in Arlington, Virginia, teaching legal writing and advanced trademarks.

In her spare time Amy raises three young boys and participates in school activities at The Chance School.
