The Firm emerged from joining forces of several individual lawyers with different professional backgrounds in law firms, government, law institutes, in-house counseling, making the Firm multidisciplinary and a flexible law office with promising practice experience and skilled assistance especially with areas covered by International Commercial Law. Most of our clients are foreign companies and individuals seeking legal assistance in the area of Croatian Commercial and Trade Law, Real Estate, Maritime Law, Corporate Law, Banking Law, Insurance Law, Law on Contracts, Tax and Customs Law, The Law on International Payments, Arbitration, Admiralty, etc. as well as issues regarding Private International Law and European Union Law.
Since 1992, SIHTAR Attorneys at Law has been a law firm specialized in maritime law: shipbuilding contracts, selling and buying ships, maritime torts, maritime concessions (such as aquaculture). That was because Ana Sihtar, founder of the law firm, was a Research Assistant at the Maritime Institute of the Croatian Academy of Science and Fine Arts, and afterwards worked as the Senior Adviser on Maritime Law at the Croatian Ministry of Maritime Affairs.
Due to the ongoing harmonization and EU assessment process of the Croatian legal and economic environment, SIHTAR Attorneys at Law expanded the area of interest from the foundation specialty - Maritime Law to Commercial Law and European Law.
