Andrea Maldonado Weiss is an associate in Mayer Brown's Los Angeles office. She has handled a variety of complex commercial litigation matters in federal court, state court, and arbitration on behalf of large national and international companies. Her practice focuses on class action defense, including in the wage and hour and false advertising arena. Andrea also has experience with matters involving auditor malpractice, contract disputes, fraud, business torts, trade secrets, and unfair trade practices. Andrea regularly advises corporate clients regarding contractual agreements, employment practices, privacy issues, and best practices in advertising.

Andrea has experience with all aspects of litigation. She has presented oral arguments, has conducted examination of witnesses, has prepared witnesses for examination, has handled responses to subpoenas from governmental agencies, and has drafted a wide variety of successful motions and other submissions, including dispositive motions and mediation briefs. Andrea has a broad range of experience representing pro bono clients in various matters, including claims for habeas corpus relief, human trafficking issues, identity theft, immigration, and family law.

In 2012 and 2013, Andrea was recognized as one of Southern California's Rising Stars. While attending law school at the University of Southern California, Andrea served as Co-Chair of the La Raza Law Students Association and was a Senior Editor for the Southern California Interdisciplinary Law Journal. Andrea served as a judicial extern for Justice Judith Ashmann-Gerst with the California Court of Appeal, Second District. She also worked on a Legal Aid Project in New Orleans six months after Hurricane Katrina, interviewing displaced residents regarding government benefits claims and assisting in the preparation of benefits claims. Andrea is fluent in both written and spoken Spanish.
