Andrew C. Pickett is the Office Managing Shareholder of the Boston office of Jackson Lewis P.C., where he concentrates his practice exclusively in employment litigation and counseling on behalf of management. He advises clients regularly on employment law issues, including allegations of unlawful discrimination, reductions in force, FMLA leave, the Americans with Disabilities Act, non-competition agreements, and litigation under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.
Andrew C. Pickett
Mr. Pickett has substantial trial experience, and appears frequently in state and federal courts in employment-related litigation, including defending clients against the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in “pattern and practice” class action discrimination litigation. He also defends employers in administrative proceedings at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination, and other state human rights agencies. Mr. Pickett lectures frequently on employment law and related issues. Mr. Pickett served as a Special Assistant District Attorney in the Middlesex County District Attorney's Office in 1990 and 1991 and also served as law clerk to the Honorable Albert W. Coffrin, Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the District of Vermont, during 1986 and 1987. Prior to joining Jackson Lewis, Mr. Pickett was with the prominent Boston-based firm Ropes & Gray.
Mr. Pickett is a graduate of Princeton University (AB 1983, magna cum laude); and the Cornell Law School (JD 1986, cum laude). While at Cornell Law School, he was Chancellor of the Cornell Moot Court Board and was a semi-finalist in the ABA's National Appellate Advocacy Competition.
Mr. Pickett is a member of the Bar of the federal and state courts in both Massachusetts and Vermont, as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.
Mr. Pickett was Co-Chair of the Labor and Employment Law Section of the Boston Bar Association from 2000 to 2002. He is a member of the Boston, Massachusetts, Vermont and American Bar Associations. He holds an A.V. rating from Martindale Hubbell. Chambers & Partners has repeatedly recognized Mr. Pickett as one of the leading employment law practitioners in Massachusetts since 2003 in its annual editions of Chambers USA America's Leading Lawyers For Business: The Client's Guide. Mr. Pickett has also repeatedly been listed in the U.S. News and World Report Best Lawyers Guide for Employment Law - Management. He has also been selected by Peer Recognition and Professional Achievement as one of the Top 100 Attorneys in Massachusetts in both the 2010 and 2011 publications of Massachusetts Super Lawyers.
