Biography

Andrew Reidy is Co-Chair of Howrey's Insurance Recovery practice. For more than 20 years, he has represented policyholders in disputes against insurance companies under a wide variety of insurance policies, including commercial liability policies, directors and officers insurance policies, property policies, errors and omissions policies, crime policies and financial institution bonds. His experience ranges from counseling about how to maximize an insurance recovery to representing policyholders in mediation, arbitration, litigation and trial. Mr. Reidy's practice is nationwide, in both state and federal courts. He has argued complex insurance issues before the highest courts of three states and obtained hundreds of millions of dollars for clients. Mr. Reidy has authored or co-authored hundreds of articles on insurance topics and frequently lectures about insurance topics. Mr. Reidy has been a frequent speaker at programs sponsored by, among others, Forbes, The Risk and Insurance Management Society, the American Bar Association and Mealey's. He also has lectured on Court TV regarding directors and officers insurance. Representative Highlights

· Goodrich Corporation. Represented Goodrich against more than 30 insurance companies in environmental-related insurance coverage dispute involving cleanup of a formerly owned site. Tried the case against non-settling insurers, resulting in an award of $42 million for cleanup and defense costs, a future award worth tens of millions of dollars, a bad faith verdict and an attorneys' fees award of $12 million. Decision affirmed on appeal.

· Recovery of Directors & Officers Insurance Coverage. Represented L. Dennis Kozlowski, former CEO of Tyco, in obtaining insurance coverage for securities and criminal actions under a directors and officers policy.

· Directors and Officers Insurance Policies. Represented numerous CEOs, CFOs, directors and companies in obtaining insurance coverage under directors and officers insurance policies for securities class actions, derivative actions and criminal proceedings.

· Sun-Times Media Group. Represented a media company and former directors in an action regarding insurance coverage for securities claims. Obtained a favorable forum decision and a decision requiring insurers to advance defense costs.

· The Regence Group. Representation against errors and omissions insurer to obtain insurance coverage for class actions alleging RICO violations.

· Asbestos Liabilities. Represented numerous companies in obtaining defense and indemnification for asbestos liabilities.

· Defamation Lawsuit. Represented a bank and its president in obtaining insurance coverage for lawsuit alleging defamation.

· Construction. Represented numerous subcontractors and obtained insurance coverage for a construction dispute involving the Washington DC Metro system.

· Recovery of Insurance Coverage for Financial Institution. Represented a financial institution in obtaining coverage for lawsuits alleging discrimination in lending, slander and defamation, and various business torts.

· Insurance Recovery for Employee Theft. Represented numerous entities in obtaining coverage for employee theft or losses due to dishonesty. Counseled clients about proofs of claim and examinations under oath.

· Claims Arising Out of Terrorist Attacks of September 11, 2001. Represented major financial institution and several companies in property loss and business interruption claims arising out of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

· Claims to Receivers of Insolvent Insurers. Represented several companies in presenting claims to receivers of insolvent insurers.

· Employment Liability Insurance. Counseled numerous clients about employment-related practices liability insurance.

· Liggett Group, Inc. Represented manufacturer in insurance coverage dispute against more than thirty insurance companies involving bodily injury, personal injury, and advertising injury coverage.

· Patent and Trademark Liabilities. Represented clients seeking insurance recovery for patent and trademark liabilities.
