Andrew Silverman is a partner in our Tax Group in Toronto. His practice focuses on corporate taxation, with an emphasis on domestic and international tax planning, mergers and acquisitions, corporate reorganizations, capital markets transactions and innovative financing structures.
Mr. Silverman has advised on a number of Canadian and cross-border acquisitions and reorganizations and on the structuring and issuance of various financial instruments and other capital markets activity. In addition to his principal emphasis on planning and transaction work, Mr. Silverman has also represented taxpayers in disputes with the Canada Revenue Agency and the Ontario Ministry of Finance.
Mr. Silverman is a member of the Student Committee, which is responsible for recruitment, development and evaluation of summer and articling students at the firm.
He is also a member of the Canadian Tax Foundation and the Canadian Bar Association and has completed the CICA In-Depth Tax Course and the Canadian Bar Association's Tax Law for Lawyers course.
He received a BA from the University of Toronto in 1994 and his LL.B. from the University of Toronto in 1999 (Silver Medallist). Mr. Silverman was called to the Ontario bar in 2001.
