Our Appellate group collaborates with both in-house and outside trial lawyers throughout the case in question to anticipate potential issues before they arise. Representing appellants or appellees in civil cases, our lawyers are highly trained in all aspects of the appeals process, including:
- making special appearances,
- handling summary judgments and other dispositive pre-trial motions,
- drafting jury charges,
- preserving error throughout the trial and jury charge phases,
- reviewing trial records,
- handling motions for directed verdict,
- handling post-verdict motions,
- writing appellate briefs,
- researching and analyzing legal issues,
- presenting oral arguments,
- superseding judgments, and
- handling original and emergency proceedings such as petitions for writs of mandamus.
But foremost, Andrews Kurth's Appellate lawyers are experienced litigators with a successful track record of challenging and defending cases before the Texas Supreme Court and various state and federal courts of appeals. From the moment we agree to serve as counsel, our client's welfare is our number-one priority. This - coupled with our timeliness, tenacity and discretion - has afforded Andrews Kurth the trust and respect of long-time clients and numerous referrals from outside counsel.
