In fact, our Intellectual Property Group represents a range of foreign and domestic companies applying for patents, trademarks and copyrights as well as start-up companies using technology licensed from universities, medical schools and other research centers.
Committed to its technology-based clients, Andrews Kurth has established an office in The Woodlands, a development north of Houston that caters to technology companies.
Andrews Kurth routinely assists clients in forming strategic alliances that involve the development and/or transfer of intellectual property, including:
- licensing in and licensing out of technology, most recently the sublicensing of a company's core technology to a foreign manufacturer and the licensing in of complimentary technology from a foreign company.
- negotiating and drafting cooperative research and development agreements ("CRADAs") and other forms of joint ventures and strategic alliances.
- drafting research contracts or consulting agreements between clients and outside researchers.
