Annie Gagnon-Larocque is a partner in our Real Property & Planning Group in Montréal.
Ms. Gagnon-Larocque's practice focuses on the acquisition, financing, leasing, development and disposition of real estate assets. She acts on behalf of financial institutions and public and private companies in transactions involving various industry sectors including the forest, energy and hotel industries.
Ms. Gagnon-Larocque's most recent projects include:
· counsel to GE Real Estate on the acquisition of a $2.3-billion real property portfolio from Dundee REIT, one of the most important suppliers of commercial space in Canada;
· counsel to underwriters in connection with a $218.5-million public offering completed by a real property development and investment company;
· counsel to Fairmont Hotels & Resorts Inc. in connection with the sale of seven landmark Canadian hotels to OMERS, one of the largest institutional investors in Canada;
· counsel to HSBC Bank and the lenders syndicate in connection with the financing of the acquisition of "Faubourg Boisbriand," a retail complex;
· counsel to the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec in connection with the financing of a $235-million real property portfolio;
· counsel to the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec on a $140-million financing;
· counsel in connection with the acquisition of Place Air Canada and Immeuble JA Tardif ($240 million); and
· counsel for large financial institutions in connection with the financing of acquisitions and taking of hypothecary securities with regard to immovables in Canada.
Ms. Gagnon-Larocque is a co-author of "Au-delà de la jouissance paisible" (Beyond Peaceful Enjoyment), published in the magazine Espace Montréal, Volume 16, Issue 4; "When a struggling tenant is better than no tenant," published in The Lawyers Weekly, October 9, 2009 issue; and "Beyond the initial term: Lease renewals and extensions," published in The Lawyers Weekly, October 8, 2010 issue. She also participated in the conferences "La revue diligente en droit immobilier : les meilleures stratégies pour éviter de mauvaises surprises" (Due Diligence in Real Estate Law: The Best Strategies to Avoid Unpleasant Surprises) and "L'impact du droit de première offre ou droit de premier refus sur la négociation de vos droits" (The Impact of the Right of First Offer or the Right of First Refusal on the Negotiation of your Rights).
Ms Gagnon-Larocque sits on the McCarthy Tétrault Student Committee and was named Student and Articling Student Mentor of the Year for 2009.
She received her BA degree with specialization in French Literature and Translation from McGill University in 1999 and her integrated BCL/LLB degree from McGill University in 2002. She was called to the Québec bar in 2003.
Ms. Gagnon-Larocque is the 2012 President Elect of CREW Montréal (Commercial Real Estate Women) and sat on its board of directors as Financing and Sponsorship Director. She was a finalist in the Rising Star category of the CREW Evening of Excellence in 2009 and 2010. She is also a member of the Urban Development Institute and sits on its urban planning committee.
Ms. Gagnon-Larocque is a member of the Young Bar Association of Montréal, the Canadian Bar Association, and the Jeune Chambre de Commerce de Montréal.
