Tony Hopp is a partner in the firm's Litigation Department and Co-Chair of the firm's Product Liability/Mass Tort Practice Group and Co-Chair of the firm's Manufacturing Sector. He represents clients in complex commercial, environmental and mass tort matters. He has tried cases in Illinois, Mississippi, Georgia and West Virginia and has argued appeals in Illinois, California, New York, and Nebraska. He has represented clients in commercial and environmental cases in 20 states. Tony has handled all phases of single plaintiff, multi-plaintiff, and class action claims. Over the course of his career, Tony has tackled a wide variety of litigation and counseling engagements. His litigation experience includes mass tort matters, CERCLA cases, consumer class actions, insurance coverage disputes including bad faith, unfair competition and Lanham Act claims, trade secret claims, patent claims, actions for violation of non-compete and non-solicitation agreements, employment discrimination claims, shareholder derivative claims, dealership termination cases, medical malpractice cases, forcible entry and detainer cases, housing discrimination and zoning litigation. His counseling experience includes risk management and product stewardship issues, product recalls, environmental audits, internal corporate investigations, and local siting of solid waste management facilities.
•Twenty-five years of experience in CERCLA, RCRA and common law environmental remediation and cost-recovery cases for clients across the United States.
•Currently representing a manufacturer of wood preservative products in connection with the Portland Harbor Superfund Site.
•Represented a regional agricultural cooperative network in five statewide class action cases alleging nuisance and trespass from the presence of atrazine in drinking water.
•Represented a multi-national company in a series of class actions and individual lawsuits alleging personal injury and property damage from the presence of TCE in groundwater in Lisle, Illinois and Urbana, Ohio.
•Represented a municipality in the appeal of a denial of local siting approval for a landfill.

•Currently representing a regional agricultural cooperative in personal injury litigation.

Tony is on the Board of Directors of the Lawyers' Committee for Better Housing (LCBH). He has been a member of the Board of Directors of LCBH since 2006. Starting in 2009, he served as President of the Board of Directors for 5 years. In 2005, he received the LCBH Volunteer of the Year award.
Tony has also been a member of the Board of Directors of the Public Interest Law Initiative since 2007. From 1997 to 2001, he served on the Judicial Evaluations Committee of the Chicago Bar Association, and he has been an Advisory Board member for Roosevelt University's Paralegal Studies Program since 1996.

Tony is an adjunct faculty member at The University of Illinois College of Law where he teaches a class called Toxic Torts: Theory and Practice. The course is for the Spring 2014 academic term and will provide an overview of toxic tort litigation, focusing on the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA), the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), and various theories of common law liability.
Tony, his wife Kelly, and their three children live in Naperville, Illinois, where he serves as a lector at St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, and is President of the Board of Directors of the Brookdale Racquet Club. A lifelong Bears fan, Tony also avidly supports the Fighting Illini, the Dayton Flyers and Chicago White Sox.
