Arnold & Porter LLP's environmental team is a dynamic collection of problem-solvers, litigators, and experts in each of the areas that comprise environmental law. The collective experience of the group is broad and deep: the 15 core partners and counsel of the practice bring more than 300 years of combined experience to bear on our clients' most daunting, sophisticated, and high-profile legal problems. The group works at the international, federal, state, and local levels, serving as outside environmental counsel to some of the premier FORTUNE 500 companies in the nation, including Honeywell, BP/ARCO, CSX Corporation, PPL, General Electric, Daimler-Chrysler, Texas Pacific Group, Mosaic, and SAIC.
Our practice spans civil and criminal enforcement under every federal statute; Superfund and other cleanup of contaminated sites litigation and proceedings; catastrophic incidents defense; and toxic tort claims concerning a diverse array of groundwater, air pollution, toxic chemical, radioactivity, and public nuisance matters throughout the US. In addition, our transactional team conducts and manages environmental assessments, negotiates contractual provisions, and manages and negotiates land use permitting for the most complex development projects. Our regulatory team regularly advises clients concerning their compliance obligations under the full range of environmental requirements, and assists in-house counsel and regulatory affairs officials in developing and implementing company compliance programs and obtaining environmental permits and approvals for controversial projects.
