Operating in offices in Washington, DC, London, and Brussels, our team includes attorneys who have held senior positions dealing with communications policy at such US government agencies as the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), the Department of Justice (DOJ), the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), the National Security Agency (NSA), the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), and the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA). Our team also includes attorneys who have held senior positions in such companies as Iridium, AT&T Canada, and PBS.
Arnold & Porter's communications practice dates from the firm's founding in 1946 by Paul Porter, a former FCC Chairman. Through the years, we have advised clients across the communications and information sectors, including wireline and wireless carriers; local exchange and interexchange companies; established providers and new entrepreneurs; cable television operators; commercial and public broadcasters; satellite and earth station operators; Internet service and content providers; equipment manufacturers, importers, and marketers; users of telecommunications and information services; trade associations; national governments; supranational institutions; and many others.

In the US, we appear regularly before the FCC, the DOJ, other federal and state agencies, the courts, and Congress. We also represent clients before national regulatory authorities around the globe, including the EU Commission, the European Parliament, and other international bodies such as the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission, the Eastern Caribbean Telecommunications Authority (ECTEL) and the European Technical Standards Institute (ETSI).
