Attila Borsos is a member of the Brussels bar based in the Brussels office of Gibson Dunn.
Mr. Borsos specialises in EU Competition Law and International Trade.
He has been involved in advising companies in the construction materials, petrochemicals, consumer goods and IT industries with regard to merger filings both before the European Commission and national competition authorities. Mr. Borsos has experience in the coordination of multi-jurisdictional merger filings, including the coordination of remedies across several jurisdictions. Mr. Borsos has been involved in advising a telecommunications and a consumer goods company in the framework of abuse of dominance investigations in Indonesia and in Brazil.
Mr. Borsos has worked as a lead associate in several State Aid matters - representing both beneficiaries and complainants; providing advice on the application of the Market Economy Investor Principle, the rules regarding direct business taxation, the guidelines on regional aid, rescue and restructuring aid, sale of public property and the guideline on the Temporary Framework for the Financial Crisis.
In the field of International Trade, he has experience in representing both complainants and importers in anti-dumping and anti-subsidy proceeding in the chemical and telecommunications sectors. He regularly advises importers and downstream users on the implications of trade defence measures.
Prior to joining Gibson Dunn, Mr. Borsos trained and practiced as an associate in the competition group of a Magic Circle firm. He has also completed internships in the European Commission (DG Trade), at the General Court of the European Union and at the Hungarian Competition Authority.
Mr. Borsos is a guest lecturer at the Law Faculty of Pázmány Péter University Budapest where he teaches EU State Aid law.
Mr. Borsos is a native Hungarian speaker, is fluent in English and French and proficient in German.
