Azar Mouzari is an associate in the Los Angeles office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, where she is a member of the firm's litigation department. She specializes in intellectual property, with a focus on patent litigation. Mrs. Mouzari has successfully represented leading companies across the technology spectrum, including those associated with computer processing, network security, telephony, and TV broadcasting.
Mrs. Mouzari received her law degree, summa cum laude, from the University of Ottawa in 2007, where she was the Book Reviews Editor of the Ottawa Law Review. Following graduation, she served as a law clerk to the Honorable Marshall Rothstein of the Supreme Court of Canada. Mrs. Mouzari received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Electrical Engineering, summa cum laude, from the University of Ottawa in 2003.
Mrs. Mouzari completed three research terms as a National Science and Engineering Research Council Scholar in the field of satellite communications systems. She co-authored "Reduced Complexity Multistage Detection Algorithms for Satellite Communications Systems Employing DS-CDMA", Proceedings of the 2003 IEEE Canadian Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering (CCECE 2003), Montréal, Québec, May 2003. Mrs. Mouzari also served as a research intern at Spacebridge Semiconductor, where she characterized ASIC chips and assisted in the design of high-level FPGA programs.
Mrs. Mouzari's awards include the Faculty of Common Law at the University of Ottawa Gold Medal, National Science and Engineering Undergraduate Award, YMCA-YWCA Women of Distinction Prize and the Canadian Engineering Memorial Foundation Scholarship.
Mrs. Mouzari's writings include "Patent Re-examination: Strategic Considerations in Patent Litigation," The Intellectual Property Strategist, October 2010, co-author, and "Patent Reexamination is the New Shield in Patent Litigation," The Recorder, July 13, 2010, co-author.
Mrs. Mouzari is admitted to practice law in the State of California and the Law Society of Upper Canada. During her spare time, Mrs. Mouzari enjoys travel, community involvement and music. She is proficient in French and Farsi.
