| Biography | During law school, Gene was an associate editor of the Mississippi College Law Review and a member of the Moot Court Board. He competed in national appellate and trial competitions in Mississippi, Florida and New York where he received a best oralist award at the 2009 Pace National Environmental Competition. Gene also was the recipient of the American Jurisprudence Awards in Commercial Paper, Domestic Relations, Judicial Administration, Capital Punishment, Federal Indian Law and Ethics. He was awarded the 2009 Litigation Section of the Mississippi Bar Scholarship and served as a Civil Procedure teaching assistant to Professor Jeffrey J. Jackson.
