On May 19, 2008, Governor Charlie Crist signed into law Senate Bill 2326, modifying Florida's certificate of need (CON) requirements for general hospitals. The bill, unanimously passed by both the House and the Senate, is meant to streamline the CON process and encourage new health facilities.

Injunction Lifted; Expanded Anti-Markup Rule Now In Effect

An injunction against the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) was lifted and the action dismissed on May 5, 2008, giving immediate effect to the anti-markup rule for anatomic pathology services.
