Barbara practices in the Firm's Litigation Management Group, focusing on employment law and employment-related litigation. She meets the multi-state employment law and employment litigation needs of several large national companies. Barbara defends against a wide range of employment claims, including federal and state discrimination suits, retaliation, wrongful termination, breach of contract and defamation. Barbara has also represented a broad range of commercial clients in complex litigation, ranging from land use disputes, to contract disputes, to shareholder disputes, to securities law disputes.
Notable Experience
· Obtained dismissal of negligent retention/supervision claim against a national pharmacy chain.
· Co-chaired a bench trial resulting in affirmance of special permit grants to my developer client for a multi-million dollar residential development.
· Successfully defended law firm and attorney in a federal contempt proceeding; obtained an affirmance of the finding of no contempt from the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.
Before Edwards Wildman
Before law school, Barbara spent three years in a small town in Japan, teaching English to junior high school students and studying Japanese. After law school, Barbara clerked for the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. She then worked as an associate for two large Boston firms, focusing on employment law, land use litigation and general commercial litigation. She also did a six-month stint as a Special Assistant District Attorney in Middlesex County, where she tried numerous criminal cases - both bench and jury trials.

Barbara enjoys traveling, hiking, reading and spending time with her husband and daughter. She is an avid Red Sox fan, and loves nothing better than catching a game at Fenway Park.
