Practice/Industry Group Overview
Barnes & Thornburg litigators try cases to juries in state and federal courts across the country and coordinate nationwide litigation for several Fortune 500 clients. In these efforts, we have long recognized the importance of empirical jury research as a tool for valuing cases and for developing trial and case-resolution strategies. We further recognize that the benefits derived from jury research are directly related to the quality of the research effort. To that end, our jury research team includes two, nationally recognized, Ph.D. social psychologists (one of whom is also a litigator), who know the literature and methods of jury research.
Barnes & Thornburg is one of only a handful of law firms in the country to employ doctorate level, jury researchers in house. Barnes & Thornburg has also established ThemeVision LLC, which is a non-legal subsidiary of Barnes & Thornburg that provides litigation consulting services, including jury research. These research capabilities, coupled with our litigators’ jury-trial experience in venues across the country, can yield efficiencies to our clients, allow jury research to be fully integrated into our case analysis and development, and help ensure the quality of the research efforts.
