Barry Alan Johnsrud is a Principal in the Seattle, Washington, office of Jackson Lewis P.C. For 18 years he has represented employers in every kind of employment dispute and litigation.
Mr. Johnsrud has handled numerous disputes regarding the scope and enforceability of non-competition agreements in various settings. Mr. Johnsrud devotes the vast majority of his practice to dispute resolution, ranging from complex attorney demands to class action litigation. Mr. Johnsrud relishes the opportunity to represent clients at trial, when that is the client's goal for a dispute, or when it becomes necessary because a dispute cannot be resolved in a manner acceptable to the client.
Mr. Johnsrud's representation of employers has involved the full range of disputes, from demands to jury trials, and has covered nearly every substantive area of employment law. His recent successes include a successful trial, a variety of summary judgments, and an injunction preventing competition for two years by two employees who had not signed a non-compete agreement. Mr. Johnsrud has successfully convinced opposing lawyers to drop cases wrongfully brought against clients of the firm without motion. Mr. Johnsrud lead a team that obtained the dismissal of an FLSA collective action for plaintiff's failure to observe procedural requirements of the FLSA. Mr. Johnsrud has obtained sanctions of over $17, 000 against a plaintiff for refusing to proceed to trial on the date set by the court. The Court of Appeals affirmed that order. Mr. Johnsrud has tried several cases since joining Jackson Lewis ten years ago, and before.
While attending law school, Mr. Johnsrud received three American Jurisprudence awards, including Civil Procedure and Contracts.
