Established in 1973, with offices in Los Angeles, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., the firm has litigated wrongful death and serious injury cases for almost 25 years and its attorneys have tried well over 200 cases in their careers. The firm has been handling thousands of SSRI cases (Prozac, Paxil and Zoloft) over the past 18 years, more than and longer than any other firm in the country.

Baum Hedlund's attorneys come from varied backgrounds and offer a unique combination of skills that are particularly useful in the investigation of defective products and commercial transportation accidents. Two of the firm's attorneys are also pilots, two have engineering degrees, and three were law professors. Former Adjunct Aviation Accident Law Professor, Ronald L.M. Goldman, board certified as a civil trial attorney by the National Board of Trial Advocacy, is a private pilot and John Greaves is an airline-transport pilot and served as a captain of a major airline. Additionally, Paul Hedlund has a degree in mechanical engineering and Ilyas Akbari has a bioengineering degree. In addition to Ronald Goldman, Clark Aristei and Nicole Maldonado were also law professors prior to joining Baum Hedlund. Many of the firm's attorneys have delivered Continuing Legal Education accredited lectures on the complexities of mass tort litigation.
