Baxter & Jewell's practice is driven by the legal needs of its clients. Over the years of practice, the partners have established continuing client relationships with a number of families and individuals with closely held businesses and other investments. The resulting practice is a blend of legal practice areas, including, among others, business, commercial, tax, estate and real estate. Additionally, the firm's practice includes referrals from business, accounting and legal contacts resulting in one-off representations or engagements in the firm's practice areas.

Since the early 1990's, the partners in Baxter & Jewell have represented clients (both closely held and publicly traded) in all phases of information technology related matters in both the domestic and international markets. Representative engagements in which the firm has been involved include, without limitation, outsourcing transactions; services contracts; software development, integration and implementation transactions; software licensing; acquisition of software, technology and information companies; electronic commerce transactions; distributorship agreements; joint ventures; alliance agreements; and third party provider agreements.
