Benjamin "Ben" Norwood is a Partner with the Transactions and Corporate Advisory Services Practice Group in New Orleans.
Ben counsels corporate, individual and tax-exempt clients on a wide variety of transactional and general business matters, including financings, governance, real estate, insurance, reinsurance, mergers, acquisitions, contracts, federal, multinational, state and local taxation, tax credits and estates planning. He also has significant dispute resolution experience representing clients during the litigation, arbitration and mediation of commercial disputes and contract matters. Ben is a deal lawyer whose litigation and tax training allow him to offer clients uniquely comprehensive judgment when negotiating and facilitating transactions.
Ben applies a litigator's eye to negotiation and drafting of commercial deal documents, allowing him to identify inconsistencies and spot potential adversarial advantages, thus helping clients avoid disputes and place them in the best possible position if a dispute arises.
Ben earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Cornell University in 1997, his J.D. from Columbia Law School in 2000, and his LL.M. in Taxation from New York University in 2003. Ben was named a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar while attending Columbia Law School.
In his free time, Ben likes to play golf and spend time with his young daughter, cook and keep up with the NFL.
