Beverly W. Garofalo is Office Managing Shareholder of the Hartford office of Jackson Lewis P.C. Ms. Garofalo received her undergraduate degree from The Colorado College in 1985, and graduated from the University of Connecticut School of Law, magna cum laude, in 1991. Following graduation, Ms. Garofalo was a law clerk to the Hon. Chief Justice Ellen Ash Peters of the Connecticut Supreme Court.
Beverly W. Garofalo
Ms. Garofalo has substantial experience representing employers in court and before administrative agencies and regularly counsels employers on a wide range of employment issues, including sexual harassment; discrimination; accommodating disabled employees; family and medical leave laws; wage and hour laws; hiring, disciplining and terminating employees; downsizing and reductions-in-force; independent contractor, employment, non-competition and confidentiality agreements; mergers and acquisitions; and outsourcing. In 2012, Ms. Garofalo prevailed in a federal court jury trial in a case involving claims of pregnancy discrimination.
Ms. Garofalo speaks and writes extensively on current labor and employment law issues. She also conducts management training on all topics including harassment prevention, workplace privacy, effective management, and equal employment opportunity law.
Ms. Garofalo was recognized by U.S. News - Best Lawyers with the distinction of being named the 2014 Lawyer of the Year - Employment Law - Management in the State of Connecticut. For the years 2007 through 2014, Ms. Garofalo has been recognized by Chambers USA Guide as a “Leader in Her Field” (Band 1, Labor and Employment Attorneys in Connecticut) and was named to the list of finalists for Employment Attorney of the Year for 2012 by Chambers USA Women in the Law. She was also recognized in 2014 Connecticut and New England Super Lawyers.
