Blair R. Zwillman is a shareholder with the law firm of Wilentz, Goldman and Spitzer and a co-chair of the Criminal Law/Civil Rights Team. He began his association with Wilentz, Goldman & Spitzer P.A. in 2002. Before joining the firm he clerked for Superior Judge Joseph M. Thuring in Hudson County (1976-1977), served as a Deputy Attorney General in the trial and appellate sections of the New Jersey Division of Criminal Justice (1977-1979), and was a partner at the law firm of Zwillman and Zwillman in Maplewood, NJ (1980-2002). Mr. Zwillman is certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey, Board on Trial Attorney Certification, as a criminal trial attorney. He has tried in excess of 65 criminal jury trials and many civil trials. He has dealt extensively with both state and federal matters. Mr. Zwillman is a past President of the Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers of New Jersey. Prior to assuming the presidency of that organization he served as a trustee and officer for 14 years. As a former prosecutor, Mr. Zwillman has extensive experience with the operation of the criminal justice system. He represents clients in Municipal Courts, State Courts, Federal Courts, and before State and Federal Grand Juries. While a prosecutor, he practiced in both the trial and appellate sections of the Division of Criminal Justice in New Jersey. Mr. Zwillman handles matters before administrative agencies such as the Office of Administrative Law, Board of Medical Examiners and Securities and Exchange Commission. He also handles matters involving commercial fraud, securities fraud, criminal tax litigation and subpoena compliance. Mr. Zwillman has been honored with the 2007 "Professional Lawyer of the Year Award" by the New Jersey Commission on Professionalism in the Law. He has been selected for inclusion in the New Jersey Best Lawyers® list 2012. He is a former chair of the District V-B Ethics Committee in Essex County and has lectured on behalf of the Institute for Continuing Legal Education and the New Jersey Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. In addition, he has authored articles on various subjects including expert testimony and jury selection.
