Bourke G. Spellacy is a founder and senior principal of the Firm. He has over thirty years of capitol lobbying experience and has been described by the Connecticut Law Tribune and The Hartford Courant as one of the most influential lobbyists in Connecticut. His representation has included corporations and associations in the areas of tobacco, utilities, hospitals, telecommunications, beer and pharmaceuticals.
He also serves as counsel to The Metropolitan District, a position he has held for over twenty-two years. The MDC is the Hartford regional sewer, water, composting, hydroelectric and waste authority.
As a noted trial attorney, Mr. Spellacy has successfully argued numerous cases before the Connecticut Appellate Court, Connecticut Superior Court and the U.S. Second Circuit Court of Appeals. He represented The Tobacco Institute in the Connecticut tobacco litigation initiated by the Attorney General and the City of Bridgeport in gun litigation against gun manufacturers.
Mr. Spellacy has served in leadership roles in dozens of professional and community organizations, including as a member of the Board of the Greater Hartford Arts Council, the Hartford Ballet, Inc. where, presently he is Honorary Trustee, and The Symphony Society of Greater Hartford. He is a member of American Judicature Society and has served in a number of leadership roles on the Connecticut Law Revision Commission and the Commission on Creation of Judicial Districts. Mr. Spellacy is a frequent lecturer at the University of Connecticut School of Law.
Mr. Spellacy received his J.D. from the Yale Law School in New Haven, and his A.B., cum laude, from Princeton University in Princeton, New Jersey.
