Brad Nicpon is an associate in McCarthy Tétrault's Real Property & Planning Group in Toronto. He practises in the areas of infrastructure, project development, and public-private partnerships. He also has experience in the business law field, having worked on a variety of commercial transactions.
Prior to entering law, Mr. Nicpon served as an advisor to Tony Clement, Ontario Minister of Health and Long-Term Care, where he had joint responsibility for advising on a variety of issues - including hospital development projects, public-private partnerships, procurement, hospital finances, and public health. Mr. Nicpon also served as a ministerial aide to Brenda Elliot, Minister of Community, Family and Children's Services. As well, he completed a management consulting internship in the public services practice group at a major international consulting firm.
Mr. Nicpon received an M.Sc. in Political Theory from the London School of Economics in 2004, a B.Sc.(Hons) in Genetics and Political Science from the University of Western Ontario in 2003, and an LLB from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2007. He was called to the Ontario bar in 2008.
Mr. Nicpon is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Canadian Bar Association, and the Ontario Bar Association.
Significant representative work includes:
· currently engaged with Public Private Partnerships Canada (PPP Canada) in an advisory mandate;
· advised Infrastructure Ontario on the P3 development of the 2015 Pan American Games Athletes Village Project;
· advised Infrastructure Ontario and Humber River Regional Hospital on the DBFM P3 development of their new acute care hospital;
· advising York University on the new Toronto York Spadina Subway Extension line and stations at York's Keele campus, as well as various leasing, commercial and other real property matters;
· advised Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment on the development of the Toronto FC Academy and Training Facility at Downsview Park;
· advised Infrastructure Ontario and Halton Healthcare Services on the DBFM P3 development of the new Oakville hospital;
· advised Infrastructure Ontario and the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services with respect to the DBFM P3 Forensic Services and Coroner's Complex facility;
· advised Infrastructure Ontario and Women's College Hospital on the DBFM P3 redevelopment of their hospital facilities;
· advised Infrastructure Ontario and the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services with respect to the DBFM P3 Ontario Provincial Police multi-facility modernization project; and
· advising St. Michael's Hospital on various real property matters associated with their development projects in downtown Toronto.
