Brandon J. Kroft is a partner with Cassiday Schade LLP and is engaged in the practice of civil litigation in both Illinois and Indiana. He has litigated cases through trial, and handles matters ranging from professional liability, transportation, product liability, insurance coverage, construction to premises liability.
Mr. Kroft is a member of the Construction, Insurance, Product Liability and Transportation Litigation Practice Groups. He is also a member of the firm's Hiring and Associate Evaluation Committees.
Representative matters handled by Mr. Kroft include:
· Successful trial defense of an ambulance company accused of negligence while transporting a patient to the emergency room from a Merrillville, Indiana dialysis center. Plaintiffs asked the jury for $3.1 million;
· Representation of product manufacturers and vendors in product liability litigation, including the successful representation of a commercial dryer manufacturer in a binding arbitration proceeding, in which the manufacturer defeated a multi-million dollar claim against it and obtained judgment in its favor;
· Representation of numerous commercial insurers in insurance coverage disputes. This representation includes complex coverage litigation involving multiple types of insurance policies, including commercial general liability, professional liability and excess policies issued on both an occurrence and claims made basis. Mr. Kroft has won summary judgment on behalf of his insurance clients in numerous cases.
· Representation of law firms, accountants, architects and design firms in negligence and malpractice cases, including a matter involving an alleged multi-million dollar hedge fund fraud; and
· Representation of trucking companies from accident scene investigation on, including defending catastrophic injury and property damage cases.
Mr. Kroft has both published and lectured on various areas of litigation, including insurance coverage and product liability, is a past member of the Illinois Insurance Defense Counsel Insurance Committee and was named a 2009 and 2010 "Rising Star" in the area of Civil Litigation Defense by Super Lawyers Magazine. Mr. Kroft was a member of the Army Reserve and National Guard from 1991 to 1997.
