Brandon J. Hechtman, an associate in Wicker Smith's Miami office, joined the firm in 2008 as a law clerk and primarily handles matters involving commercial and civil litigation.
Mr. Hechtman graduated in 2010 from the Florida International University College of Law Evening Program. He excelled as a law student, achieving Dean's list throughout most of his studies and earning Book Awards in Pre-Trial Advocacy and Products Liability. He also served as a member of the FIU College of Law Board of Advocates Negotiation Team and finished Fourth in the FIU College of Law Intramural Negotiation Competition. In addition to his scholastic achievement, in 2009, Mr. Hechtman clerked for the Honorable Judge Barbara Areces of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit and prior to joining Wicker Smith, he worked for a year at another local firm handling contracts and commercial disputes.
In 2006, Mr. Hechtman graduated magna cum laude from the University of Miami with a B.S.C. in Communication Studies and Art. He was a J F Pearson Scholarship recipient, a member of the Dean's List, the President's Honor Roll, Provost's Honor Roll and also received the EST FL Medallion Award from the State of Florida in 2005 for his academic achievements in high school. While working on his undergraduate degree, Mr. Hechtman worked for a year as a designer for Laidlaw Creative and as a Grassroots Organizer on the Jim Davis for Governor Campaign. In 2006, he also served as a Youth Volunteer Coordinator and Public Relations representative on the Robin Faber for Judge Campaign.
In addition Mr. Hechtman was awarded the prestigious Silver Knight Award by the Knight Foundation and the Miami Herald as a high school student for his service to the community and scholastic achievements. He is now a founding member of the Silver Knight Alumni Legacy Network that is committed to preserving the award for future generations of high school students and garnering support for local community service opportunities.
Admitted to practice in Florida in 2011, Mr. Hechtman is a member of the Florida Bar and Dade County Bar Association. In addition to his legal practice, he is an active artist and continues to develop his work in drawing and painting.
