Brann & Isaacson was founded in the 1920's by Louis Jefferson Brann and Peter Isaacson, and is fast approaching the hundred-year mark in providing passionate legal representation to an ever growing and evolving group of clients in Maine and across the United States, as well as in Europe. Soon after its founding, word of the firm's successes swept quickly through Maine, and in 1932, and again in 1934, Maine voters elected Brann as Governor. As the firm's reputation continued to grow, Peter Isaacson turned to reorganizing Maine banks that had closed their doors during the "Bank Holiday" of the Great Depression.
Since its inception, Brann & Isaacson has focused on providing the highest quality legal counseling and representation to the business community, and along the way developed and maintained a deep sensitivity to the needs, concerns, and priorities of commercial enterprises. OUR SUMMER PROGRAM
Each year, Brann & Isaacson offers a 10 to 12 week summer program designed to expose qualified law students to the breadth and scope of the firm's practice. The firm draws selectively from law schools across the country, and considers exceptional students in both their first and second years of law school. The size of the program generally ranges from two to three participants each year who are considered for associate status within the firm. Summer associates work directly with attorneys on varying legal issues for the firm's national client base.
While legal research and writing are critical part of their work, our summer associates also participate in client meetings and teleconferences, and have opportunities to attend hearings, trials, and depositions. Work distribution is carefully monitored to ensure that each summer associate is given as broad an experience as possible; nevertheless, individuals expressing an interest in certain practice areas are given the opportunity to gain experience in those areas. We strive to make our summer program both a learning and a hands-on working experience. By the time the program ends, our associates know what it means to be a lawyer at Brann & Isaacson, with careful attention paid to our core philosophies and strategic approach to problem solving. Summer associates are provided informal feedback on their work, and, at the end of the summer, a more formal evaluation is offered based upon input from all of our lawyers. Along the way, we also ask our summer associates to evaluate their summer at the firm as we strive to make our program as beneficial as possible to law students poised to make important decisions about their careers.
Of course, throughout the summer, the firm hosts a variety of social activities, which may include dinners, local theater, baseball games, firm functions, and informal gatherings.
