Brendan W. Miller is an associate in the Indianapolis, Indiana office of Barnes & Thornburg LLP, where he is a member of the Corporate and Litigation Departments. He focuses on general litigation matters, tax issues, and issues affecting tax exempt organizations.
Prior to joining Barnes & Thornburg, Mr. Miller spent several years working with private and public agencies and funding organizations in the nonprofit sector, primarily as a member of the United Way of Central Indiana staff. His responsibilities included managing complex funding processes for the large-scale investment of community resources and other grants, coordinating community research projects, and developing targeted investment strategies to link donors with community needs.
Mr. Miller received his J.D. cum laude from Indiana University School of Law - Indianapolis in 2007. During law school, he was an active member of the Deans Tutorial Society, tutoring law students in legal writing. He was also a member of the Order of Barristers and served as an associate editor of the Indiana Health Law Review. His Note is published in Volume 5 of the Indiana Health Law Review. As a participant in the Judicial Externship Program, he served as an intern for the Honorable Sarah Evans Barker of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Indiana.
Mr. Miller earned his B.S. with honors in social work from Manchester College. Upon graduation he completed a one year term of service as an Americorps-VISTA volunteer with Prevent Child Abuse Indiana and then earned an M.S.W. in social work, with honors, from Indiana University.
He is admitted to practice in Indiana and is an active member of the American, Indiana State, and Indianapolis Bar Associations. He remains an enthusiastic supporter of various community organizations and is a former board member of the Indiana 211 Partnership.
